Does the tranny mount handle noise and vibration reduction into the cabin or does it aid in shifting "feel" / ease ? Truck has 205,000 miles and runs very well except for the occasional "hard to shift" which I think happens in part to drive line position (angle of road, truck position such as angled in a driveway etc..)

I'm sure part of the drive line "play" could be worn engine mounts but I see the tranny mount is a much easier job to do. If replacing can give me some benefit, then I'll do that (1st).

It is just that.....a mount. Same with the motor mounts. They don't aid or hinder the shifting of the transmission. Check the fluid in the transmission, change it if it needs it. Look for leaks also.
