Today I was driving and was in 4th gear(manual). All of the sudden, my accelerator stopped doing anything. I put the pedal to the floor and still nothing. Downshifted, motor reved, but still nothing when I hit the accelerator.

When I got down to about 10MPH, my oil pressure dropped and I killed the motor. Now it will not start. The motor turns. I can hear my fuel pump kicking in(it is less than a year old). I changed the fuel filter at the same time as the pump. I am getting spark from the coils, but have no way of knowing if it is the proper current.

Wanted to see if you guys had any ideas.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Gfx

check fuel pressure at the rail and check to see if you have spark. the pump may kick on but it still might not supply pressure. also check to see if your timing belt is ok and still lined up where it should be

I'm trying to find somewhere that I can rent a fuel pressure gauge. Since it is a new pump and filter, I am guessing that the pressure is fine, That being said, I want to measure it to be sure.

I do have spark. Though, I replaced one coil pack a month or so ago, and plan to replace the other tomorrow, along w/ plug wires ect....

The timing belt has been replaced also within a year. So, all should be fine there....

As far as making sure the current for the spark is correct, can I clip my meter in series w/ the plug wire and frame to get a proper current reading?

Thanks,

Gfx

well shit i've had pumps go bad i less than a year too. so i guess what i'm saying just check the obvious first like the things i mentioned and check all fuses too. on my 88 chevy pickup i had a wire for my trans connector short on the trans housing causing the ecm fuse to blow so fuel pump wouldn't kick on. also for a fuel pressure gauge you can rig up a water pressure gauge to work you know the kind for your well pump.

I replaced once coil pack(the other is less than a month old) tonight, and replaced all of the plug wires at the same time for good measure....

After that, I check the pressure @ the rail. Nothing. I can hear my pump kicking in just fine, but I have no fuel pressure.....

If you hear the pump turning on but you have no pressure, you should first check the filter for restriction. It's possible you picked up a load of fuel with a ton of crap in it and it's blocked up the filter. Or it's also possible your pump has shit the bed again. Start with the filter though.

Will check the filter when I get a second tomorrow. Am I wrong to think that if I hear the pump, then there would have to be pressure somewhere? I don't understand how the motor could be spinning, but no pressure built up....

Thanks,

Gfx

Fuel filter was fine. While I had it off, I turned the key to engage the pump. Fuel spurted out. This makes me wonder if the pressure gauge that I rented from AZ is bad.... Even if it is the pump and has low pressure, the gauge should have read something. It didn't budge at all.....

I'm going to try a diff gauge. Then off to timing I suppose....

Also, tried the inertia switch..... No love.

Second gauge did the same thing, so I am putting a new pump in today. I also wanted to see if anyone knows the pinout on the pump wiring harness. I have the tank dropped, but I wanna make sure that I am getting 12V at the pump.

Thanks,

Gfx

TC,

I should have listened to you sooner man. New pump in today, and all is well.

Sorry for not listening straight away, and thanks for your help everyone.
