98 2.5 throttle sticking

ok so I am borrowing my buddies 98 2.5 liter manual trans ranger, I notice that sometimes (usually after getting on it hard) that the throttle seems to stick at like 3000 rpm or so, it will do this until you park it and let it sit. if you come to a stop the idle will drop back to normal, but if you take it out of gear while moving it will just wind up and not drop the idle, any ideas? no CEL.

Try cleaning the iac motor with some carb/throttle body cleaner

yeah I thought about that, just figured if it wasnt working right it would throw a CEL, but probably would be a good place to start.

my dad's f-150 will "idle" at like 2500 if he puts the clutch in while moving, it drops to 700 (normal) as soon as he stops, always wondered why...

I'm pretty sure TPS related. There's info on here about it, just can't remember it off hand. There was a TSB on it too.

That's the link to a thread on this issue, also contains the TSB info. From what I understand, its best to clean the IAC and the connectors for the IAC and TPS real good before you start buying parts. Just read the thread, its covered pretty well.
