97fordrunners 97 Ranger build. Updated 4-29-11

Thought I should start a build thread on my truck now that I have started modding it for some serious trail running.

As it sits now it has a rough country 4" lift that is soon to be a custom lift with custom drop brackets, Skyjacker Radius Arms, EB coils, Stone Crusher steering, F250 shock towers and Bilstein 5150 shocks.

Over the weekend I rounded up a buddy that works at a drive line shop rebuilding transmissions and diffs and had him give me a hand with installing my Yukon 4.88's:yahoo:
Also have a No-Slip that I was gonna get installed but I ordered the wrong spring kits:annoyed: And I also installed new Spicer U-Joints and C-clip eliminator spring.

Looking good man! 97' is the perfect year for a build in my opinion. I wish I had that 4.0/M5OD combo. What size tires do you plan to run, and how much did the radius arms run you? Do you have the part number on the u-bolt straps?

I bought the rad. Arms about 5 years ago and I think they were near $700 which is crazy, I have all the stuff to build my own but haven't done so yet. I plan on running the 33s for now but would like to go to a 35 . part number is a Precision # 534-10

Railman the locker is for the 8.8 I am thinking an ARB in the future after all else is done

Well not a lot of progress other than the addition of the Baja Claws

I did however order up my replacement rear leaf hangers, New DPFE sensor to replace the corroded aluminum one. Also got the spring kit I needed to install the no-slip and have a Stone Crusher Steering set up coming from Anthony. What a guy he is a real cool guy and real easy to deal with. Can't wait for it to get here and do the install

So Finally getting a few things done on the truck after a long break with a back injury. Got the No-Slip installed yesterday and also got the Stonecrusher Steering installed and then got to try out the tires, and locker out back of work in a slimy hole that my boss was rutting around in with his skid steer. No Problems with traction anymore! Also removed the 14 oz of stick on wheel weights that were on the tires and threw a 6oz bag in each tire so that should help

Here is a pic of the steering. And I will try and get some more pics of progress

Next up is re-doing the suspension and replace the rear hangers and shackles

how does the stonecrusher drive?

i like the build

Haven't put to many miles on it but great so far. Much better than worn out TRE's for sure.

Something missing, Can't put my finger on it

Gonna pull the bumper and receiver tomorrow and then hopefully get the Belltechs and new hangers on this weekend. Or i'm gonna finally tackle to front suspension but I know the rear is about to fall off the frame.

Thats why I removed the box but I may try and sell it while its off to fund a bed cage build

if ya have tight trails like we do here....you will like the tube bed :icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

looks really good so far.....

Limited slip? Lucky you. I envy you. :icon_rofl: There's quite a few times I could have used that over the winter.

Thanks, Yeah I am really liking the idea of the tube bed and tying them into the sliders, I tend to get into trees for some reason or another:dntknw:

The rear is actually locked now with the No-Slip, It works pretty good to I must say.

Hmm....I saw a 97 Ranger bed for sale on MSP CL, I was wondering if that was you. Then later I check on your build thread and you're selling one!

I like your truck. Looking like it's coming along nicely.

So then do you still have the limited slip carrier? 'Cause I would love that limited slip carrier. Or did you use that with the No-Slip?
