97 v8 swap

one of my friends i like to wheel with wanted to go v8 for more power to compete in off road events. first thing out of my mouth was 6.2......


first thing out of his mouth was fawk off and die.(probably wanted to club me like a baby seal too.....but thats not so easy)

so next thing you know we built him a nice 351 in my living room that winter....problem is we live on opposite sides of the country...so tuning is a motherfawker.


build started reasonable at first. but power greed creeped in.


no matter what, an ls would have worked out better, but not in that rbv...




never said the 302 in this case was not ideal, as it is.


but.....be honest.


are you happy with 14's....?? will you be happy with 13's

the level of incrementelism and money saved in the pursuit of power seems undeniable to me and is the main thing that drives my suggestions and admiration of the current gm mill....its more ford then gm in my eyes so maybe thats why it is so easy for me to accept it.

As any other Guy ill never be happy but with a tune and Cal tracs truck should run 13.5s with new exhaust (should not will)

But there's always other options then ls swap I actually have a low Miles 5.3 and 4l80 but the thought of putting that in my truck makes me wanna throw up lol

Just looking to take my old designed motor and push it as far as stock block will go (once boost comes into play)

But we digress on this poor guys thread we jacked so bobby til the next time we meet again to have they old battle of what's better so long lol

you said 4l60 before.


yeah...i have a 4l80 in my ranger.....definitely not for a 2wd.

the fawking torque converter weighs as much as a c4

There strong Trans tho that's for sure. My buddy with that Turbo 6.0 runs one with just better clutches and a converter and it holds lots of power. And converted weight tell me about it I dropped it on my finger when pulling it. Ouch
