97 to 94

trying to put 97 4.0 from ranger into 94 ranger with 4.0 will it work please help:

just have to swap computer and the computer wiring harness, unless the connections are all the same. but they both are an OBD2 system so there is that possibilty. i would look both engines and harnesses over real good just to make sure

94' is ODBI
97 is ODBII.
You will need the complete wiring harness down to the connector under the dash I think.

Thats the hardest way to do it. (An OBDII swap is a lot of wiring and extra emissions stuff) Just swap all the electronics over from your 4.0 to the "new" engine and install it using your harness and computer.

It should work. 97 still had an OHV engine. Just swap all the sensors and equipment from the 94 onto the 97 so that you avoid OBD issues.
