Ok. Well in the never ending saga of my truck something is always going wrong. lol. I had it at my mechanic back in August to get the tranny flushed and the tensioner replaced. Well he checked the plugs and the one for the number 6 cylinder was fouled out. They cleaned them up and that helped for a bit. I finally done my plugs last weekend and noticed that particular plug was fouled out again. So i took the truck to Auto Zone had them scan it just so i could get an idea of what was the potential problem. So i get the answers of a cylinder 6 misfire and an EGR issue. I ran by my mechanics the other day and he like me is thinking it's a fuel injector causing the plug to foul out. So what i'm wondering is everyone elses take on what the issue could be. My dad is thinking it's the timing or something in the computer though from what i understand the timing can't be adjusted.

I replaced the ignition coil and plug wires a year ago. Just put new plugs in last week replacing the year old plugs. All the plugs were fine except the number 6 cylinder.

So if anybody has ideas i'm open to them. I really want to fix this issue so my mileage gos up atleast some. I just got the 31's on there with the 2 inch spacers and 2 inch lift blocks in the rear, i ain't giving up on her. Not to to mention she just hit 127,000 miles this week, so she has life left in her.

Well. After i took it to my mechanic becuase it drank down a 1/4 tank in 35 miles we have an answer to the problem. Never ever run Autolites in a Ford. I never believed people but i had them put Motorcraft Platniums in and it's made all the difference. Runs smoother and better mileage. So just thought i would add that incase anyone runs into the same issue. We still don't know what the EGR issue is though we figured let it run right for a bit and then see if it's still there in the codes and try resetting it. It may have been 3 misfiring cylinders messing with it.

I always thought Autolites and Motorcrafts were the same plugs

Autolite does make the motorcraft plugs, tho the motorcrafts are a bit different.

Never seen an issue with Autolites in a ford tho. Its usually with those stupid Bosch plugs.

That's what i thought. I had personally seen cases were Bosch plugs were a pain but i knew people who had run Autolites without an issue. I even talked to my friend at school and he had them in his old crown vic and it ran fine. Either way if i gotta pay a couple extra bucks per plug to get it running right and get the mileage i should it's worth it to me.

Could have gotten a bad batch. I love the double platinums, havent had an issue yet.
