97 Ranger 2wd Leveling project

That was me!! Yeah Dan I am LOVING the F150 shocks on the front of my truck, 100% no joke after my washer lift and the F150 shocks she rides smoother than when I bought her a few months ago :headbang: I did 2" thick of washers (nets about 2.25" actual lift) and the stock passenger shock wouldn't even fit onto the radius arm at "ride height" but the F150 shocks fit perfect. I've had them out wheelin' and haven't bottomed them out, haven't over extended (I also took my sway bar completely off) and it's a great ride. Damn I really need to get some new pics on here.. haha

Let us know how it comes out!

Just curious how does it affect it not having the sway bar on? I don't really know the function of a sway bar. lol. I'm 16 and just getting into working on and modding vehicles, so i'm sometimes clueless on things. I'm assuming it has something to do with controlling the sway of the vehicle? :dunno: lol.

Also on the F150 shocks. Would these be fine? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ca...tozone.diy.valueobject.NavigationItem@c21574]

Same brand i put on the rear when the mulch i was hauling blew a shock out. lol.

Yeah basically sway bars are meant to reduce body roll when you take hard turns, which trucks don't do a whole lot of anyways.. At least on my truck, when I took the sway bar off I really didn't notice any increased body roll (maybe a tiny bit) but I did notice that hitting gutters and speed bumps at an angle was a LOT smoother and it didn't pitch side to side NEARLY as much :icon_thumby:

As far as the shocks, these are the ones I used. I don't know if it's because I still have a vehicle selected on AutoZone but I can't see any of the specs for the shocks or what truck they're for :dunno:

Hope that helps!

Sure does. Probably is on Autozone, the ones i linked are essentially the ones you got from Napa, not the same brand but same overall specs.

If i take the swaybar off, will that affect anything as far as how it handles when towing? I rarely tow at the current time though down the line i might end up doing a lot.

They should do the trick then! As far as the towing, I haven't personally towed with this truck but I don't see why it would have any adverse effects.. Anyone have contradicting experience?

So reviving this thread for a minute. I'm debating on how much lift i need to get the tires under it that i want. I'm still planning on doing the stacked washer spacers. I've narrowed it down to two tire sizes and i'm trying to figure out which one would fit without having to replace the camber bushings. I still think i might, i'm not sure though because i have read around the web that if you stay under 2 inches it can probably be aligned. So in theory since a 2 inch nets about 2.25 a 1.5 inch would net about 1.75 inches. I'm looking at either 235/75/R15 or 30X9.5X15. I figured it out and there is only about a 1 inch height and width difference.

So what i need to know with a 1.5 inch spacer do the camber bushings still need replaced?

I really at this point need to get enough lift to fit either of thoose two tire sizes on so i can get new tires on it.

Dan

Dude, go for springs. You can find them cheap used sometimes, for my Skyjacker Leveling coils I only paid 60 shipped.
