I popped my timing belt the other day. I've been trying to get it back on and lined up. Yesterday I did it for the 3rd time and it was running and idling with no problems. Went out and did a few things and it never had a problem.

Today I started it up and the idle is running real fast. I pull everything apart again and the camshaft sprocket was a tooth out. I fix it again and run the belt around and I can feel that the oil sprocket feels like it is dragging on the plastic. After I put the belt on it does drag and at times jumps on that sprocket. I've made sure that the belt was on tight. I did get a new tensioner for it and that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Sounds like something in here is worn and slightly out of straight 90* with the belt, don't it?
Spend some time in there trying to wobble and shake to see if something other than the belt is to blame.
I never saw a belt that would do this by itself, but there is always that ONE that makes up it's mind to go south.
Look closely to see if all of the teeth are positively 100% aligned and perfect.

Are you using the old belt?? Are you sure you got on and turning in the same direction?? Belts are usually a one use item. And they definitely don't like going in the opposite direction from their first install.

Are you tightening the tensioner locking bolt after you adjust the belt?
