97 F-350 Powerstroke Tow Rig (Non-RBV)

couple weeks ago i got the shackle mounts replaced , fixed my sloppy shifter issue and got 6 new Yokohama Geolanders mounted on it , been runnin the livin daylights outta her

well i thought maybe i would bring this back from the dead , this truck has been my on and off daily driver for some time now and unfortunately i decided some changes have to be made , just going to do what is needed to make the truck run and look great and get semi-decent fuel mileage , hopefully that is this summers project

here is a list of the plan for this truck
  • replace door and handles on utility box
  • repaint and rewire box
  • new fenders
  • cab corner and rocker
  • paint
  • factory aluminum rims
  • chip
  • intake
  • exhaust
  • new stack kit
  • yellow light
  • toolbox
  • class v hitch
  • ranch hand front bumper
  • custom rear bumper
  • new radio
  • new speakers
  • new window stickers
  • gauges
  • needed engine repair

well i still have yet to get anywhere , but starting the 10th of this month i am diving head first into this thing , i have to currently stop driving it because the rocker panel is basically gone and the oil cooler is about to wipe itself out , so it is going to go under the knife and come out a whole new truck , there will be lots of pictures soon

The rocker panels disapearing is pretty common on those...I work at a bodyshop, we bandaided this thing a few weeks ago...basically just so the door would close and stay closed, there was nothing left of the floor either, guy had just set a piece of sheetmetal in there.

Same thing happened to an F-150 my buddy drove for a couple months last year, the door flew open while he was going around a turn, hes lucky he didn't fall out, because the floor was also rotted around where the seat belt bolted down!

wow , mine isnt quite that bad , it is all still there just the cab corner and rocker aren't attached to each other anymore

I installed a fire extinguisher into my 88 f250, on the floor by the drivers seat, used some good size self tapping screws, they wouldn't tighten down, and when I pulled I pulled all 4 screws out with one hand and no effort... Turns out I only screwed into the slush mat, as the floor more closely resembled Swiss cheese

well it looks like i may have my explorer back this week so i can extend the time frame of this build to help keep the money flow nice and steady , it is going in the barn next week to start phase 1 of the build , i ordere $1200 worth of parts last weekend for this step , parts included :

- TS 6 position chip with Tony Wildman tunes
- Pypes Turbo back exhaust , 3 inch DP and 4 inch from DP back
- Glowshift triple gauge pod with Boost , EGT and Oil Temp gauges
- New Driver Side manifold and Oil Cooler seals

all the scale rust I have cleaned off the frame so far , not even a quarter done , I hate NY

gotta send it out to get the cab corner/rocker fixed , then a bit more work needed , then buildin a flatbed and it will be done
