97 Explorer Cluster repin for CEL

Sorry guys, I've been looking and looking but I can't find anything specific to this problem for this year combo. I did the cluster swap last night and all is well except for the CEL. I've identified which wire drive the CEL light on my existing harness, but all of the possible locations for the 97 CEL are filled with other essential wires.

According to the wiring diagram for a 97 Explorer, it says that the MIL (CEL) is pin 9 of either C288 or C287 (depending on early or late model.) Both of those locations are currently occupied on my dash harness. Do I need to swap a couple of those wires?

*Apologies for putting this in the Urgent Help forum. I've been looking for a while now and cannot find the answer here or on FRF. I've gotta get this truck in for emissions and inspection and it won't pass without the CEL.

Figured it out. Even though the clusters came from the same age group (95-97) the wiring on the Explorer cluster is backwards on connector C288, which is the same as C216 on the Ranger harness.

I ended up switching pin 3 to pin 2 on the C216 which translates to a switch between pins 8 and 9 on C288.

Now my CEL works, but I may have to figure out the wiring for the battery light. Hope this helps for anyone who might have the same issue.

95 and 96 has their own pin out. I found this out when putting the 03 cluster in my the 95. The CEL, Door Ajar, and one other needed swapped around.
