i found a complete auto trans out of a 97 4.0 4x4 ranger. will that bolt right in to my 91 4.0 4x4 or are they a different trans?
 
Won't work, different trannies (if similar). 97 is all electronic, would need the ECU + OBD2 system which is a whole 'nother can of beans.
