sorry i no theres likely a million n one threads in this how long am i looking at to change a lower passenger ball joint and from looking at it there is no special tools needed other then what i should have in my own tools box? thanks and sorry in advance!:icon_cheers:

You need sockets to take the wheel bearings apart, and a big-ass C-clamp. Those are about the most "special" tools you will need.

Strip the brakes, bearings, rotors, etc off, pop the shaft out, undo both ball joint nuts, hit ears with BFH, press joint out, reverse.

On an average 97 with hand tools, plan most of Saturday and maybe some of Sunday.

I changed a drivers side b/j on my 91 earlier in the year in half an hour. I do have air tools and a ball joint press and everything went without problems, but I doubt I could do it again. In contrast I changed the upper and lower and a b/j on a jeep a couple of weeks ago and it took the best part of two days, everything went wrong.

thanks for the help i kinda figure it would be a day and a half job in the back yard i no its not gonna be sinple we get harsh winters here with lots of road salt. i find that stufff really helps things come apart!
