thinking of an air intake for my 97 with the kick ass wonderfull 3.0:haha:

any who...look on ebay...every thing is for 98 and up...is that becouse it wont clear the hood or somethin?....will one for a 98 fit?

just wish i could make a 2.9 obd II so it would swap in....hmm wait....can that be done?;missingteeth;

just make your own out of any cold air kit from carquest or the like. some places even carry fab-your-own kits with various pre-bent pieces.

you ought to know better than to hope a big conical K&N is going to boost your power output any though. the 3.0 has bigger flow problems than the stock intake.

and why do you want an OBDII 2.9? whats wrong with EEV-IV? or whats wrong with an OBDII 4.0....thats just a wallowed out 2.9....any of these swaps would be fairly easy...

hey there buddy...i knew i can count on you.....na i was just thinking about a 2.9 would be kind of neet

as for the 3.0 intake i was thinking of just a few extra HP or mostly MPG....i drove an other 3.0 the other day and it had a little more power than mine...agian theres had 80,000 miles and mine has a 150,000....so i think i will try a fuel filter and that lucas gas treatment...see if that helps

Send me the money you would pay for one of these intakes, and you will get the same performance increase as if you bought one!!!

Don't throw your money away......

Yeah dude, read both of our signatures ;missingteeth;

when was the last time the engine got a good tune-up? plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv valve, o2 sensors, fuel and air filters...ect. your likely to get a bigger eco boost out of these things than any "mods".

and for that matter, what kind of mileage are you getting? you might not even be on the low side. keep the tires up to pressure, pitch those concrete blocks out of the bed, and drive like your grandma and you should see somewhere between 20-24 on the highway.

about 18 in town.....the thing has new plugs & wires....fuel filter...and we are looking at 151,ooo miles......some one said to convert to mobil senthetic blend....sshould get a few more or so

18 in town isnt really that bad...about middle of the road for your setup.

i always hesitate to switch an older engine to synthetic...it causes any oil leaks to worsen dramatically and economy gains are negligable.

synthetic oil in all the gear boxes wouldnt be a bad idea though. if nothing else it controls heat better than dino oil...and you may pick up some mileage from such a switch. keep the engine over 2,000 rpm at all times....closer to 3k during cruise speeds. installing a vacuum guage is the best way to learn how to drive with fuel economy in mind. keep the vacuum as high as possible (expiriment with different gears and throttle settings). if you do a lot of city driving, lower gears in the differentials will boost city economy. dont carry any extra weight (if youve got good tires, ditch that heavy spair and jack). keep windows up and a/c off if possible.

anything beyond these simple ideas is going to involve dramatic changes to the truck.
