96 Ranger needs engine

Are there any differences between a 97 3.0 engine and a 96 3.0 engine? Would this be a straight swap without having to change half of the engine parts?

If replacement engine is out of a Ranger it should be a straight forward swap.

I would replace the CPS unit if engine has more than 100k
