Hey guys, long time lurker here, and I've got a question.

Basically, I've got a 95' Ranger with the 2.3L backed with a M50D-R1 5 speed. The right fender/grill is toast. Well, yesterday I found a deal for a 96' ranger, same color as mine, with the 4.0L. It doesn't have a trans, but the engine runs great, and I can snag it all for $350.

So, I'm thinking swap the 4.0L in place of the 2.3L. As I understand it, my M50D, being the 2.3 version, won't bolt up. Does anyone make any adapters for this?

Also, I know I'm going to need from the donor;

Motor Mounts
Clutch
Engine Bay Harness
Intake System
Radiator
Exhaust X-over

Is there anything else specific I'll need? I'm thinking ECU, but I'm not sure if the 2.3L one might work?

Thanks in advance!

im wondering the same thing, but i have a 91 ranger with the 2.3 i just wanna know where i can find the things for it and wat things are needed to do the swap

96' to 95' is fairly simple, as they are both EEC-V and TIB/TTB trucks.

You'll need a 4.0 trans. What was the 4.0 equipped with? Auto or manual. The PCM's are different.

Basically, park the trucks side by side and swap anything that's different. Done.
