96 3.0 Ranger.. engine question, PLEASE HELP

to start off my name is justin and i have a 96 ranger with 216k on it.... doesn't use oil and engine was as quiet as a church mouse, anyways... onto my problem

i decided to take it to a trail and long story short it ended up in water up to the headlights, sat there and idled like a little champ until my mom came to drag it out.

upon starting down the road the oil pressure gauge started flopping everywhere ( it normally ran about 2/3rds of the way at all times never moved ) and the engine locked up. i pulled the dipstick out and it was FILLED with water.

i cannot find an engine for it anywhere, can i use one out of a 98 and if so what do i have to do to use it, ford tells me no but i need to get an engine put in it so its back on the road.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

in 98 there was a body and frame change, so i imagine the engine elcetrical was changed as well, which would make this a fairly difficult swap. have you tried searching www.car-part.com for an engine?

None of this is important....

A 3.0 shortblock is a 3.0 short block. Get a short block(block, heads, rotating assy.) from a Ranger and slap your stuff on it from your engine( intake, etc).

i'm going to buy the motor from the 98 and just swap all my stuff over since that seems like the only viable option right now that isn't going to cost me 1000 bucks just for the motor not knowing what i'm getting... this engine has 94k on it, clean fluids and sounds like new... hope all works out
