okay im new to the forum and have been researching like crazy, i have a 96 4wd 3.0, bad engine, i found a 92 3.0. so i just want to know what i will have to do to successfully swap them. what do i need from my old engine thanks yall

Welcome to TRS :)

Is the '92 3.0l from a Ranger 4x4?

I would just do a Long block swap
So use the Block and Heads from the '92
Oil pan from '96 with new oil pump, why not, while its out
Upper and lower intake from '96, so wiring matches up
All front accessories and brackets from '96, i.e. power steering, AC, Alternator, crank pulley, tensioner, new water pump
Change timing chain cover gasket, leak point on a 3.0l of any year

'92 has distributor, '96 has Cam Synchro in its place, swap that

Rear main seal is cheap and always good to change when an engine is out

I'm not sure if it is or not, and thanks I needed some help! And should I use the 96 timing cover?
