I just bought a 95 short bed from a freind that is already set up for a 5.0L for $500. It has a explorer disc brake rear, shortened driveshaft, exhaust, headers, motor mounts, and oil filter relocater. My column in my 88 cougar caught fire so I'm going to use it for a donor. It has a rebuilt AOD and for now I'm just going to reseal the engine and replace the timing chain and oil pump. Just to get it going. Hopefully I can learn what I need to know threw searching. If ya'll have any pointers please post. Thank you.:3gears:

What do you need to know and any questions will be gladly answered.

Thanks. The only thing I think I might have problems with is getting the engine harness from the cougar and the dash harness from the ranger to work together.
I have a 600 holley but I want to keep it EFI.

Do ya'll think a 3.0L fuel pump will supply enough fuel for a SO 5.0L? The only thing I plan on changeing when I reseal the motor is the heads and roller rockers. I have GT40 Cobra heads and cobra roller rockers I would like to use.

I'm still using my stock fuel pump, truck was '97 4.0
Engine is 5.0 HO, pretty mild- has Gt40 Heads, Gt40 intake, 1.7rr, headers, 2.5 dual exhaust, underdrive pulleys, basic Mustang stuff.

Will Ive had some bad luck in the last few weeks. I hit a deer in my Explorer and totalled it. I also lost my job two weeks ago. So it left me no choice but to sell the ranger. I was able to save the parts for the swap. So one day maybe I'll be able to have my 5.0 ranger that I've always dreamed of. Once I get a new job and get caught up I'll start looking for a 83-88 ranger.

I did fix the cougar so I do have something to drive.

That sucks double, both for the job and Explorer. Think we had 30 deer vs car crashes over the weekend here. Opening season starts Saturday and then they will really be moving. Everyone be careful out there!
