I have a 93 ranger 4wd that needs a motor. I have a 3.0 from a 95 ranger 4wd but was told there would be problems putting it in the 93. Does anyone know what issues there are?

Probably electrical, perhaps the PCM won’t work with it, should be fine if you swap over the pcm though. I don’t know much about that, so I’m really have “no room to talk.”

Car-Part.com does list only 93 and 94 as compatible for a complete engine.

Oreilly's lists one long block for 90-94 (DFD5) and another for 95-98 (DFN5).

There is a visible difference in the webbing/bolt holes on the drivers' side of the block. No idea what it's for though. Any 3.0 experts around?

This has been covered ad-nasueum.

Yes it will work. The longblock will swap right the F over.

You might need to change a sensor or two from the old one to the new one to make plugs match or dick around with the accessory drive or something but the long-block is functionally the same.

FFS the tech section of this very forum covers this.
