It has two problems.
One, the timing belt came apart at 40mph. There was no noise, it just quit giving power on a slight incline.
Two, stupid me left water in the engine on a zero degree weekend, and the block is cracked.

I have two questions.
One, is it possible that the head is okay?
Two, I can buy a local 89 Ranger 2.3L engine that looks like crap. The truck itself was run to destruction in the woods by some crazed kids, knocking off the gas tank, and a bunch of other things. The speedo shows 160,000, which is what my truck has, roughly. The guy wants $150.
Question two A: will the 89 2.3 fit in my truck with my head?
Question two B: will it fit with its own head?

I am disinclined to buy this, 'cause it was treated like sh**.

I'm thinking there is no way to fix this except to start taking it apart and see what's what.

Thanks.
