I'm sorry if this has been covered before. I have been looking for a few hours now and cant find a straight answer.

Can I safely use the the cylinder head from a 1997 -2001 2.3/2.5 Lima engine on a 1994 2.3 Lima block. The head gasket part number seems to be the same but the coolant passages seem bigger on the 1997-2001 head.

I realize that the alternator and ignition coil bracket might have to be swapped to the later style one.

Also, as I understand it, the camshaft gear might have to be swapped for timing marks to line up.

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

I believe you should be fine, the square tooth timing belt change was in '92 I believe so I don't think the cam/aux pulley should be any different. The coolant ports in the head gasket are usually the restriction and on purpose so I think you are correct in your assumptions.
