'94 Ranger transmission swap.

I've got a '94 Ford Ranger 2.3L. The transmission went out a while ago, I've got a transmission from a '96 Ranger and was wondering if anyone could give me some good places to look for references on how to install it. Any help would be appreciated.

Easy. Remove the old one and installation is the reverse. No real tricks to it. Just disconnect the slave cylinder line and go for it. Easy peasey!

true .... if they are both from a 4 cylinder engine.

I guess I win the vague statement award:yahoo:. Yes they are both from a 4 cylinder engine and it is a stick.

The real problem is that I had a guy doing the swap for me, I didn't feel comfortable trying myself. He's been at it for quite a while and is continuously running into problems. He tells me I need parts that weren't bad before and when I get them he still can't get the job done. Now he has the transmission stuck in reverse....so I figured I couldn't do any worse than him and would try my hand at it:icon_welder:.

That's not good. a trans swap shouldn't take more than 4-5 hours for someone who knows what they are doing. For an inexperienced person with the right tools, maybe a couple days. Only thing extra i would replace while i had it apart would be the slave cylinder. And if you've got the money laying around change the clutch and have the flywheel re-surfaced. Other than that I don't know what extra parts he's telling you need to be replaced...
 
Yeah I should have added a productive comment instead of my winner winner chicken dinner at the retard who has the trans stuck in reverse. 1st thing I would do is remove the drive shaft and beat him with it severely about the head though.

As hard as those brackets from the trans to the block and top bell housing bolts are to get off I wouldn't even think of replacing it with out doing the slave cylinder, throw out bearing, pilot bushing/bearing, pressure plate and clutch disc.
In my opinion with the cost of a resurfacing versus the cost of a new fly wheel I would lean towards a new flywheel if you think it really needs one. ( not all that common a thing to need resurfacing or go bad IME )
