Hi again all,

can anyone here tell me how to get the top shaft and gears apart in my tranny.

i have removed all the gears and reverse assembly from the tail shaft end and removed the covers on both ends.

i now have access to all of the internals, but i cant figure out how to seperate the two piece shaft that is on the top.

anyone here have any experience with this.

i did watch the tranny teardown teaser on yutube, but it skipped over this important part of the disassembly.

thanks in advance

Give the input shaft a good yank, or a few, as needed, to knock the front bearing of the case. Then give it a couple good whacks back to knock the rear one out. Do the same to the counter shaft to get it's bearings out of the case so the shaft can lay low in the hole.

After that you can just slide the main shaft apart. Notice the larger piece at the rear of the input shaft is flat on the sides, if you angle your dangle just right you can use those flats and walk the input shaft out the front of the case. Then the main shaft can just slide forward and up. It's hard to describe in text, but I could do it in about 30 seconds with the trans in front of me.

The high lighted part sounds painful. :icon_rofl:
