Hey guys, I just swapped an engine. I have done the following:
Timing belt
Crank position sensor
New plugs all the way around
Swapped coil packs
Cleaned MAF
Cleaned IAC
Idles rough, when I give it gas it misses out the back.
I am a bit of a desperado here, gettin' edgy. Can someone draw a picture for this "neck"? I am out of ideas.

Checked for diagnostic codes? And, double-check the plug wiring, maybe?

All the marks are on line, going to double check and make certain I am on the compression stroke. Will swap plug wires as well.
I suppose I am going to have to buy a OBD1 Diagnostic tool and check the codes too. Any idea if anyone still sells those? Wal Mart, Auto Zone? :icon_confused:
I will report back when I get it done.

Why would you go buy one? just do the CEL test described in the tech library. exept hook up the sti into the negative battery terminal.

OK, I've removed every plug wire, and I have what appears to be spark on all eight coil packs, but I remove the four from the primary and no difference, the exhaust side 1 and 2 are firing and hitting, 3 and 4 are dead. Six of eight are dead and the wires are good. I have a home perm to prove it.
What's worse, is the Check engine light does not come on now...so no codes available since I took out the spout sensor, and cleared the memory.
At my age, you'd think I would have been here before. Any, and all ideas are open to me. I will stand on my head if I have to. Any ideas?
I did replace the comp. too, forgot about that part. :icon_confused:

just pin out the computer connector and watch the light. it will go
!-!!

!-!!
then wut even blinks next is ur codes. write them down and look them up on internet.

At 250,000 miles and change my #3 exhaust valve broke off a little pie slice shaped piece of valve.
I found this engine with "low mileage" and said cool, I don't have to rebuild.
I'm wishing I would've bit the bullet. Having said that, my broke a-- did not do it. I bought this one instead. :icon_cheers:
$350.00 bucks less than rebuild, but I get a free mystery! :icon_rofl:

Guys, thanks for all of your help! Now, I'm going to tell you what happened.
With this "new engine" came a wiring harness, we put our original harness back on (what a pita) and wham! No problems, runs like a champ! Mystery solved!!! :icon_cheers:

Glad to hear that you figured it out; and hope that it's trouble-free from here on out.

Hey, the difference between 50,000 mi. and 250,000 mi. is huge! What a difference, much tighter! I may be able to use 5th gear again, or not.:icon_thumby:
