I have a 94 Ranger 4x4 v6 4.0 that cuts off. It turns on and after a couple seconds it turns off. The check engine light stays on. I tried pulling codes with a jumper cable but gotten none. I think i'm doing it wrong. I go to the EEC test harness and jump, I turn the switch with the motor off but the cel stays on. It does not blink, just stays on. The truck turns on, when its cutting off I just give it some gas to stay on. Any help to what I can do to pull the code(s). Has anyone have had this problem???

Check the idle air bypass valve on the side of the throttle body. If you can keep it running by giving it gas, that would be my first guess.
