94 ranger axle question

After replacing the shift motor, I got the 4wd to light and engage, took it out in the snow for the first time the other day, hit the button, all good, went to drive uphill, back wheels spinning and fronts just clicking. So today I do the Warn manual hub swap, jacked up drivers side, spun the wheel and front drive shaft turns like the hub was stuck engaged. Swapped the hub and now works as it should. Do the same to passenger, with new hub on and locked I spun wheel and drive-shaft did not spin, axle shaft going into housing was spinning. Normal operation? I put the truck on jack stands and when in gear all 4 wheels do spin, but I can stop either front side and the other wheel does get the power. First 4wd vehicle, I'm used to 10&12 bolt chevy's. I realize its an open diff but I was expecting to see the drive-shaft spin when I turned the passenger wheel

Typical open diff characteristic.

Thanks, wasnt sure if driving with what appeared to be one stuck hub would of done any damage to the front diff.
