Okay, so I have replaced the battery, terminals, checked as many grounds as I can around the engine bay. Tried replacing the coil pack, but the replacement did the same thing - no fire arcing out of 1, 2, 3. Only 4 actually has enough umph to get a spark to arc and ground to the nearest bolt. All four 'towers' will spark to the spark plug when it gets close enough. It seems to be the ICM but at $140.00 I want to be sure...no returns if installed, blah blah blah. Can someone help me troubleshoot to rule out everything but the ICM. To me, it has to be the ICM but...
I used a test light and grounded to the battery pos terminal, then pierced the wire going to 2,3 of the intake coil. When I did, and the engine turned over, it lit up and blinked, but then it fried my light tester. Thankfully the tester has a warranty and was easily replaced, but it still fried the tester in that test. Also, I instructed my helper to turn off the truck. He said he did but it was still running while the probe had the connection to the terminal.
Not sure if any of these details will help, but I need an answer quick before I run out of time to return my uninstalled electronic component - the ICM.
