94 mustang 5.0 into 93 ranger

I am getting closer to install day.I got complete engine harness and ECU for 5spd.Just waiting on a tranny.Will be getting swap kit with headers from JEGS catalog.How much wiring will actually just plug into truck that now has a 2.3?Any tips on what to expect will be helpful and very much appreciated.
 
IIRC nothing will plug up...93 and 94 were bastard years for the ranger and are the hardest wiring wise cause the harness for the engine and the vehicle is all one harness, you will have to basically undo the harness at the firewall, dismantle the engine harness out from the rest of the harness, then install your 5.0L engine harness and tie into the remaining harness for instruments, fuel and power

This is commonly stated on the internet, but incorrect.

Buy yourself an EVTM for your year of Ranger, But a swap manual from Harwood (google it) and all the Mustang EVTMs are availalbe online.

I've done this same wiring using these same resources.

I have to recommend putting your own pieces together, too. Mustang motor mounts (maybe you already have them on your engine?), Tri-Y headers for a '65-'70 Mustang, and a 90deg Oil filter relocation kit.

Thanks TeddyZee for chiming in, I wasn't completely sure of those two years, but everyone I here from that did the swap with these two years and stated this...I stand corrected:pray:

I kept hearing it, too... Then I helped another forum member do the wiring...
Those years simply have two engine harness to body harness connectors, where '95 and later use one 42-pin.

Then it occured to me that i also own a '93 Splash... lol.
 
2 engine harness connectors....would that be one for computer and one for power, or mixed??

Two multi-pin connectors.

C105f, the swap typically involves nine of the 53 circuits here. (dash temp, CEL, dash tach, CPP(3), dash oil pressure and a couple power supplies)

And C124M, the swap typically involves up to seven of the 16 locations here. (just reverse lights and one "start only" circuit.

In my opinion, there are enough resources available that the wiring is really a fun part of the swap.
