I have been having issues with finding a speedometer drive gear and driven gear. Recently I found a website to get these but no one can seem to tell me how many teeth each gear will need. I have had heard 6 to 7 on the gear in the transfer case and anywhere from 17 to 21 teeth on the speed sensor. Can anyone tell me if they know specifically how many?

Ps I have called Mazda and they were totally clueless

No one can tell you the specific answer because there is no one right answer.

The tooth count needed is determined by the tire size and gear ratio used on the vehicle.

If you have 29 inch tires and 3.45 gears you will need one gear. If you have 4.10 gears and some 35" swampers you will probably need another.

The drive gear on the output shaft is likely a 7 tooth, that was the most common on Rangers IIRC. The driven gear on the cable will then need to be calculated based off tire size and gear ratio.
