im gettin all the part together to do a transfer case swap. i have the manual case and the shift linkage. my only worry is how do i get the 4x4 light to come on. i was thinking going to the jy and find a truck with a manual transfer. and grab the wiring off if i sent the wires right to the gauges will it trun the lights on and off. and if i put a manual transfer and i take out all the wiring and shit from the auto transfer. and that 4x4 computer can that be removed?

just leave the wiring and stuff you dont really need the lights. i havent had them for almost a year

The early Rangers didn't have the lights in the dash if you had a manual transfer case (technically they were there, but they didn't activate when in 4wd).

Can you not really tell if you are in 4wd by looking down? You will be the one to pull the lever, remember what you are in.

i can remember if im in 4x4 i just kinda wanted my lights to work. im kinda picky when it comes to stupid stuff like that

Just did it to my Explorer and kept the dash lights. Under the dash in the center there should be a big plug somewhere right at the edge of the carpet that is for all the 4x4 computer.

Look for a BR/W and a GY wire. BR/W is Low and GY is High for the dash lights. Just run a jumper wire from the 2 wires on the transfer case to these. Splice them in on the side of the connector at the carpet.

I dont remember which wire is low and high on the transfer case but you should be able to figure it out.

You can get rid of the 4x4 module and everything else that deal with the electric crap. Its not needed.

You can also pull the fuse under the hood for it also as its not needed.

i did this swap about 6 months ago and one thing ill say is make sure you get all the shifter boot and bezel stuff cause without it your cab will be unbearable loud lol

The BR/W is the second on from the right closest to you and the GY is the third from the right on the back row.

Just cut the BR/W wires about 2-3 inches back on before it goes into the connector coming out of the carpet. Do the same with the GY. The just run a wire coming from each of the wires from the case and splice them into these.

Like I say I dont remember which is which on the transfer case but just put the case in 4 high and touch each wire to the GY wire one will light it up and the other will not. Splice the one that does light it up together.

sweet man do those wires hook up with the wires that are down under the truck for the electric motor?

They go fom the shift motor through the module and then from the module to the lights. One of the wires changes colors a few times though.
