Well, got my wisdom teeth pulled earlier this week, and in my boredom of recovery decided to call my truck 'done' and put it up in the Show-off forum!

This truck holds alot of sentimental value; it's the first truck I ever owned and I have countless hours invested in it. It's actually a Mazda B3000 - I really wanted a 'real' Ranger but I didn't think the Ford emblems were worth the extra cost! Pretty proud of my rig since I'm only 19 and did alot of the work myself. :)

I bought the truck in spring of '04, and totalled it in the fall. :bawling: Finally turned 16 the next spring and had money to put into it.

After fixing the crash damage, the 5.0 came next (with alot of wiring help from my dad, 35yr mechanic/shop owner). He was positive he could get it to run right with the check engine light working right and everything, and he was 100% right! Fired up first shot. The goal was to make it look as factory as possible, and short of the ECM mounted in the aluminum box, it looks identical to an Explorer underhood (pre-turbo anyway).

I came up with the 7" of lift for about $400, and the flares/hood scoops for another $250. I got all the emblems and floormats, etc in a trip to the junkyard, and swapped out the seats and gauges. The stock speakers got changed, along with the Sony head. Paint work was something I would avoid if I did it again haha, not really fun at all! I'm really pleased with how it turned out though. After getting it painted and all back together, next came the Herculiner in the bed and a tie-down rack for my motorcycle. March '06 the truck finally rolled out of the shop after about 9 months of after-school afternoons.

Finally about ready to drop the hood and bolt the wheels back on to go to the tire shop

Summer after it was 'done' the first time -

Then in Oct. '07 I was sick of running dead heats with little Honda's and riceburners, so I started searching out more power. I came across a 5.0 Explorer that had a rear-mount turbo in it, and I really liked the idea. By Nov. I was ordering parts, and Christmas the install began. Finished it up about the 3rd or so.

Turbo, wastegate, oil pump, and sump, all down next to the transfer case

I'll try and get some better pictures of it tomorrow. The weather is finally starting to let up, so I'll probably go wash it and get some good shots. I wanted to put quite a few pictures in here with a decent amount of info, but obviously I couldn't put everything, so just ask if you have any questions!

Very nice truck. How is that turbo gonna hold up to mud and water and what ever else that is going to smack the hell out of it?

Dude, that truck is awesome! How much boost are you getting with that turbo?

Time will tell. It's all covered by the TC skidplate. The truck lives a pretty pampered life anyway. I don't mud the hell out of it - it really only gets muddy if there's a hole between where I'm at and where I wanna be. It doesn't see any form of crawling 'dangerous' enough that something could tear it out.

As for the boost, it's gated at 6psi for now. If everything works as planned I'll probably swap the spring up and retune to 8psi during summer. It hauls a serious pair when you step into it at the moment... not sure how much more I really need!

Haha, well don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the zoom, zoom'ers. I just always wanted a Ranger when I was a little kid and so I more or less made my truck into one.

I probably have a few pics of the truck muddier than heck somewhere. I did it alot during high school - the last time I went mudding I got it stuck above the wheels in some pretty thick stuff. Took me a really long time to get everything cleaned off underneath and whatnot, and I just haven't had the desire to go out slamming through mudholes since :fie:

Exactly. I came real close to submerging the intake the same day. Scared me pretty good and that was the end of that 'hobby'!

That truck is purely awsome! I really like the hood and flares, they give it a nice mean look, which it sounds like it deserves!!

The "intake-in-the-water" thing is what slowed my mudding down... Thankfully it only cut off the air to the engine so it died instead of sucking it in. Filled the cab with muddy water.. Now I prefer trails over the water/ mud.
If I had your truck, I probably wouldn't take it offroad much either.

Here ya go! Couple 45-75 runs on my way home from snowmobiling. :headbang:

It was done with a digital camera, so the quality isn't amazing. I couldn't really get a good sound of the exhaust under cruise; it was all wind. But here's a little bit of what it sounds like in the cab. You can hear the blow-off valve in a couple spots.
