94 ford ranger 4wd problems

so my buddies got a 94 ford ranger 4wd auto he thought his push button switch was out so he a couple from the jy well he switched them out an they still dont light up an shift the transfer case in 4wd. hes got power to the switch but ater that he an i are both lost...
when it comes to this electrical stuff im completely puzzled so i thought someone may have a couple things to try or sumthin i apprechiate it in advance! thanks yall

Have you tried diagnosing the shift controller and motor? (some links in the FAQ right up at the top of the forum here

)

My first guess is the motor is suspect.

Motor is the most common problem. About $100 for the part if I recall right, and takes literally 5-10 minutes to swap out... if you're slow like me Very easy to replace.
