94 Explorer V6 ecu work in 94 Ranger 4.0?

Friend of mine I think needs a new ecu in his 4.0 AT Ranger.

Another guy I know has one out of a 94 Explorer.

Numbers are similar but a little different.

Ranger oem F47Z12-A650-ANA or ANB

Explorer oem F47F-12A650-MB

Of course, Expl's had cruise and some other stuff
that the Ranger doesn't have.

Anybody know if the Expl ecu would work in that 4.0 Ranger?
Same year, AT also.

IF both the ranger and the Explorer have EGR the computer will work.

ALL 1994 Explorers I've ever seen have EGR, ALL EGR 4.0 engines also have a cam synchronizer and SEFI.

a SEFI computer will not run a Non-SEFI 4.0 engine.


If you determine what you've got and what you need
I have a stack of various 4.0 PCM's on my workbench,
though mainly I collect manual trans computers I still
have the original computer from the 1993 Explorer I
parted out to do my 4.0 swap.

and it WILL properly conteoll a Non-SEFI A/T 1993 Ranger 4.0 engine.
That computer I know works... I've driven it

Thanks! I thought that being just a couple numbers off on the tail end that, given some different options on an Explorer, it just might run the engine OK.

I'll have to ask my friend if his has an EGR or not, and if his Ranger is 4wd.
FWIW, both rockauto & autozone list EGR's & related parts for a 94 Ranger 4.0,
and without differentiating between AT & MT. I know nearly all Explorers are AT,
and his Ranger is, too.

I did forget to ask if his is 4wd or 2wd, and Rock Auto does specify different ecu's for
2wd & 4wd, as well as for AT vs MT.
