94 b4000 axle swap/offroad build

wwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiitttttttt???

that awesome b2? sas'ed and all... still had the 7.5???

check out the build thread on here for more info its under Dirty Whit boy

well up until about midnight lastnight it had a 7.5. once she blew the only option we had was to press on thru the trail. he made it alot further than I expected in fwd. by the time we got off the trail you could spin the pinion by hand and felt no resistance from the shafts at all. and there were some holes in the cover we managed to patch using excessive amounts of duct tape to keep the fluid off the trails and in the axle.

DANGER, if its good on the highway make yer way up here and well do some muddin. make a extra long weekend outof it.

still waiting for the rest of the group to ge me there pictures. and the vidoes are being uploaded onto youtube as we speak.

My problem is money to travel other then that i would in a heartbeat, i can get time off work whenever i need it but my dad told me that his work, place i had an interveiw for, will be highering people on soon and more in september so hopefully all goes well for me...tired of mim wage job but its a garentee place for my hours and whatnot.

welp with the level of trail's the club has planned to run the rest of the summer and the quantity of rain we have gotten so far.

SNORKEL TIME!!!!

the trail next month ive been thru a couple time's and its snotty but not deep. however the trail in august ive never taken a truck down what i can tell you is there are holes deep enough to swallow a dirtbike. even the "chicken trails" are over the front fender on my bike. (i guess that only bumper deep for me tho)

it will most likely be made of plumbing parts since thats what i have at my disposal. but i want to take my time and make it look good not just some pipe screwed to the truck just need to decide if i'm gonna run a different air box similar to the B2 project or if i am gonna try and seal and tap into the factory box.

also want to relocate the computer into either a water tight box or find a way to seal it a lil better.

I would make a water proof box for it. Personally if the holes are that deep, I would go around them somehow. Im not comfortable taking my truck into something that deep let alone wanting to go swimming.

I don't know if you would have to extend wires but our computer is in the glove box in my samurai. Works nice I've been pushing a wake up to the bttom of my windshield without a problem

yeah with the location of the computer it would require alot of extended wires. my theory is if you are gonna attempt to go thru that deep of water you have to be prepaired to be stuck in that deep of water. i know i can push thru 4 feet of water (if i dont get stuck) but i'm only safe stoppin at 3 feet or so. i know as long as i can see any last bit of tire sticking out i'm o.k. i still end up witha little bit of water in the cab but nothing is going to get damaged. my two worst fears are hydrolock or submerging the computer. i've thought about making a tin box the exact same size as the computer then filling the hole in the firewall with fastfoam and sliding the tin box into the hole (maybe coat it in pam cooking spray) to make the factory spot as water tight as possiable. but i still dont feel very confident.

without extending any wires i know i can mount the computer up tight to the bottom of the hood using a setup similar to the b2's

i know that when you enclose the computer in foam like you said there is a chance of them overheating. i think id just move it up to the cowel like the 93-97 ranger were. at least thats where mine was

not 93-97 cuz mine(94) and the 94 i gutted for the 4.0 swap on the b2 were both in the firewall by the driverside kick panel (from the engine side) maybe it started 95 or somthing not sure but i know what your are talkin bout when there up directly above the intake manifold.

yea that always seemed like a fairly safe spot to me. if your stopped in water high enough to get that under your dash is under too... lol

in my old wheeler ive had the seat submerged in water but never any higher than that. at that level i dont care how long your breathers are most of the time you will end up changing fluid's. it really is an odd feeling driving and shifting with your feet underwater

Make a box for the computer then silicone the shit out of everything on it and where the wires go in the box but make it so that a good knife can open the box right back up if needed.

still tryin to decide what to do here. figure i should be able to come up with somthing at work that should get the job done. might just have to do some tim knocking again

so i made alot of progress on the snork. 99% done with all the stuff on the outside. just need to get a hat of some sort. debating on ordering one off e-bay. Also need to button up under the hood. formed some pvc to fit into the factory airbox and will just silicone airbox inbetween filter changes. just need to finish connect some pieces in.

unfortunately you will have to wait for pics as my camera went downstate with the wife for the weekend
