I have several problems with my old, up to now reliable B-2300. Last week the engine overheated when the water neck failed. The engine knocked and rattled until I could get it to a safe place. It would not restart after it cooled down. I pulled the head, (expecting a blown head gasket) and found the head was cracked between the Intake & exhaust valve seats on #1 Cylinder.
No problem. I replaced the head. While I was at it, I replaced two of the four injectors, (#1 & #4) the timing belt, the spark plugs (8), the spark plug wires, and the serpentine belt.
After all parts were in and double checked the engine would not start.
Troubleshooting revealed:
Good fuel pressure.
Timing marks line up at TC.
Battery is fully charged.
NO SPARK at ANY Sparkplug.
I ohmed out the spark plug wires. They are good. I have battery power to the center pin on both distributor packs. (This engine has a distributorless ignition system) The resistance from center to outside pin is 0.7 ohms. The secondary (output) side of the packs ohms out at 13k. I changed out the ICM. (that's the module bolted to a flange on the lower front part of the intake manifold. It is labeled Motorcraft DIS)
I'm running out of ideas. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
