I removed my tires and found an excess amount of grease on the brake rotor. The grease is coming out from inside the hub assembly. It looks like there is a groove for a seal in the back of the hub cover that goes over the wheel studs.

Is the lack of seal causing the grease to come out from inside the hub?
Do I have to much grease inside the hub?

Thanks

there should be a big o-ring in that groove...so thats part of your problem.

but ive run without that seal before and never had problems with contaminating my rotors. it sounds like you have a bit too much grease in there.

O-ring seal part # FOTZ-1K106-A (Ford dealer)

I would think if no grease is flying out without a seal, there's not enough in there.

i ran my hubs without the seals for several months after i first bought them (brand new, factory grease) and they didnt fling grease.

i think the seals are more to keep crap OUT of the hubs than to keep grease IN.

Those hubs require very little grease. Too much and they will not work..

The locking hub itself only needs a little, but the wheel bearings need to be packed real well with grease.
