I replaced the timing chain and sprockets along with the tensioner and guide on my 94 ranger 4.0 OHV and now I have a miss at idle. Also slightly lower on power and fuel mileage dropped. Can anybody tell me what the hell I may have done wrong? Thanks.

4.0l OHV engines, 1990-2000, never had timing chain problems, they lasted the life of the engine.

So first question is why did you change the timing chain and tensioner?

Second would be a suggestion to check the Coil Pack firing order.

5 6 4 side always gets me, and follow each wire to #5, #6 and #4 cylinder

I've never seen a 4.0 OHV that needed timing chain service of any kind.
I asked my brother who is a Ford Senior master technician, and got the
verbal equivilent of a blank look...

The reliability of the 4.0OHV is one of the reasons I have so-far avoided owning
a later ranger with a 4.0SOHC...
