I just purchased this truck and have been trying to work out the bugs. It had been sitting for four years due to a bad altenator and dead battery???I had the altenator rebuilt and bought a battery. Installed them on the truck and she fired right up. Had a pretty good hesitation on the way to its new home. I figured probably bad gas so I filled it up and put some injector cleaner in. The throttle position sensor was unplugged. So I called to find out why. He told me he was told it was bad and to unplug it for some reason. Anyway I replaced it and cleaned the AIC valve and throttle body, changed the oil stuck in a new pcv valve, and cleaned the MAF sensor. Still has the hesitation. Also since installing the new TPS sensor the truck wants to rev up while driving and pressing the clutch in to change gears. Sometimes while driving it will hold the speed almost like having cruise control. I have noticed while idleing in the driveway (which by the way it idles fine at startup ) if i rev the engine it will try to die when it comes back down to around idle. I also noticed that for some reason when it tries to die if I press the clutch in the rpm's smooth out and it returns to idle speed not even mashing the gas pedal. What the heck! Sorry so long. Any ideas of what could be causing these issues? Thanks in advance.

Sitting is the worst thing for a vehicle. I'd just look over everything with a fine tooth comb.

Change all the fluids. The gas is most likely bad, You'll have to get it out of the tank and get fresh put in there.

Check the air intake for blockages. New air filter?

I checked for vacuum leaks again and found none. The tank was almost empty when I picked the truck up. I filled it up and put some injector cleaner in. The main thing I can't figure out is when I start it up with the cluch pressed in and the transmission in neutral it idles fine then I let the clutch out to let it idle it drops rpm's and will stall out unless I mash the clutch again. I'm not touching the gas pedal at all.

Sounds like you need to verify the transmission has fluid in it.

At LEAST drain and refill it (3 quarts of Mercon ATF).

I picked up 2 93's cheap, with clutch/tranny issues. Neither one had more than 8 oz. of fluid in the transmission. Drain plugs were completely coated with fuzz. The second one, I put the drain plug back in after draining, then removed the trans. Replaced the rear seal and sealed the shift rail plugs. When I reinstalled it, I pulled the drain again, that plug was coated with shavings again, with no fluid in the trans. So, I flushed it. 3rd and 5th whine, but I'm driving it till it dies, then I'll throw another tranny in it.

whatever is wrong it is caused by being under load. Check spark, at teh coils. pull the wire off teh coil and hold it 1/2 inch away, it should arch. if not clsoe the gaps till it jumps, less than 1/4 inch the coil is bad. from all teh tech im readin, and my old mechanic who races these 2.3ls says the coil are not quite a rare problem.. check the dis box too and the alternator

OK I pulled the codes today have code 12, 13 both IAC problems and a code 27 which is the vss or vehicle speed sensor. Question would a bad vss cause the problem I am experiencing with the idle when letting the clutch out in neutral while parked.
