I have a '93 Ranger with an explorer axle that is still sprung under. Initially I had clearance issues in the rear until I bolted up some 2" lifting shackles on the leafs. It fixed it so it doesn't look hideous, but it is still a tad low. without modifying the axle, how can I (cost effectively) either raise the rear about an inch or drop the front an inch. I am accepting either way so what do you guys think?

I'm thinking of doing this too, I'd love to hear answers.

could you just get some taller shackles? add a leaf from the ranger packs?

Did you have to do any fabrication to get the explorer 8.8 and springs under there, or is it bolt in if you swap axle and springs? thanks, Dan

Adding a leaf would do nothing. Taller shackles would help though. Cheapest easiest way..... Air shocks.

It was a direct bolt in to get the explorer axle + springs in the ranger, the only bad is that it dropped my rear about 4". I bought some 2" lowering (in our case, they would lift) shackles which made it almost level with the front. Now everything works fine it is just 1-1.5" too low in the rear. I would not recommend direct bolt-up for 4 wheel drive rangers, i would flip the shackles in that case. Note: the shock mounts from the explorer seem to work, but how the shocks mount is a little bit awkward.

Only bad is it is really hard to find Ranger splash in junkyards.
