i was going to look at a 1993 ford ranger 4.0 4x4 5 speed. the guy says it has only 80,000 miles on it sound like a good deal but would like to know if there is anything i should Defiantly look for. or any reason i should stay away from it thanks.

4.0 5 speed, itll have the 8.8 and D35. Good Truck.

You wanna look for the usual, check fluids, engine ticking/knocks, ball joints etc.

cool thanks is that a good trans tho i thought the autos were bad but havent heard anything about the 5 speeds

M5's are God. The A4LD auto is the POS that everyone hates. You're in good shape if you check the usual. Is it reg. cab or ext?

Rob

its gonna be a strong truck, i had one like it a few years back..

it is an ext cab. looking to put some money into it of course lift, wheels, and tires, other stuff

It's a good Vintage. Pretty much the same truck that's in my signature. I beat the snot out of mine, and it still runs. Original engine and trans. Only stuff that's broken, I've broke by hittin' it hard (U-joints, rear springs). Bought it with 89,000 miles in 1999, and it's still taking me to work and back every day. I would be comfortable buying another one, in fact I'd do it in a heart beat if mine ever went down.

yeah, good score, check for rust.

i have a 93 4.0 4x4 auto tranny beat the snot out of it and she just takes a beating and keeps on truckin, put on 36,000 km since march of this year. still running strong

check the frame bay the gas tank an the rear spring hangers.. they usually tend to rust away.. other than that its just the normal wear an tear.. the 4.0 are damn good motors my buddys got well over 200k on his an it still runs like a champ.. only done reg tune up i myself have a 4.0 5spd an LOVE IT..

i just hit 300k on my 4.0 no trouble. buddy has a 4.0 in a 98 explorer he just replaced both heads but that was some sort of manufacturers defect or somethin like that his has 250K
