Hello all,

I am the owner of a 93 Ranger with 285, 000 miles on it. I do almost all the work on this stock daily driver truck, of which I am the 2nd owner... recently the drivers side window will bounce briskly up and down, about 1/2 inch, as it moves slowly downward, when I push the window up button. If I fuss with it long enough, through multiply tries, I can get the window to go all the way up. Also when the window is up, it will inadvertently drop down 1/2 to 1 inch and stop while I am driving or sitting.

I have replaced the window control switch.

I am suspecting the window motor: I do not see in the service manual, a relay for this circuit in line to make it work, and service manual does not mention one either..............ideas?

Thanks Wacorider in Indy!!

A bit off topic but it's good to see another person from Indiana. We are having a meet in Lebanon in the second of june if you're interested.

Hope your get the window problem fixed. That's why I like the manual windows better.

It is either the motor or the regulator, either way you'll have to pull the door panel to see. Most ford window motors have some issue with the gears inside them, and a lot of parts stores sell the solution for about 8 bux or less- it is simply some hard plastic inserts to drop down inside there to sort of shim it up. I'm not explaining it worth crap, partially because I can't remember exactly- but when you take it apart is it very obvious. Take the plate off of the motor, drop these in and it is fixed. When taking the door panel off don't forget there is a Phillips screw on the lower outside of the door panel that is often overlooked...
