Hey, I have a 93 ranger 4x4 4.0 5 speed with a bad clunk. The best way to recreate the problem is doing about 2.5-3k in 2nd gear, half throttle. If I were to take my foot off the gas with any sort of quickness, the whole truck bucks forward. Now I know that's normal with a manual to some extext, but it's a really heavy thud. If I really baby the gas, and ease off the pedal, I can shift without the thud. This is my my first post excuse me if it's not the right forum thanks.

Ps I also replaced the trans mount.

is clunk on passenger side by chance? around the front passenger floor board? if so could be radius arm bushings

if you have vibration while driving could be u joints

Yes, more towards the trans though. The bushing is new, and there's a little space between the arm and the bushing. P/o did the job. I have vibration only mainly when letting off the clutch into first

Check out the drive shaft center support bearing

forgot about the bearing also check slip joint could be dirty and dry

if it was me and either bearing or u joints were bad i would either go to a 1 piece drive shaft or replace all u joints and support bearing then clean and grease slip joint just so i would not have to pull drive shaft again..

I'm going to go check the driveshaft center support bearing. Somethings telling me there's already a one piece in there, with no bearing. Will a video help?

it should:D

No center support bearing from what I'm seeing. It is a two piece shaft. What's the best way to share a video? Youtube?

The Rat has pretty much the same driveline as yours. If it has a 2 piece rear shaft, it has a CSB.. If I'm real smooth in my shifting, I can avoid the clunk, It is on my to do list. I have more important issues to deal with first though.. :D
