Hi, on my way home last night the idler pulley on my ranger went and my belt came off. I only had a few minutes this morning to look at it in the light before I got a ride to work and the pulley was completely seized. The back edge or something came off allowing the belt to go loose.
I just called Canadian Tire about getting one and they list two pulleys available for the same truck, a 90 mm and 100 mm outer diameter. Could I use either one? I'd measure mine but I'm at work right now, and the store happens to be across the street from here.
I suspect the diameter won't matter much and maybe the larger one is just higher quality. Also, that may put more pressure on the belt, other pulleys, and tensioner. OR, now that I think about it, less pressure since the tensioner would have to move further.
On a related note the tensioner was replaced with a new one in early fall just before I got the truck. So, the tensioner may be putting more pressure on the system than the other (older) components like.
