ya, but see what u fail to realize is that A- any fool can wheel with boggers b-boggers are not speed rated above 50mph ladies and gentleman

personally i dont give a rats ass, id prefer the boggers but good luck on getting free boggers and finding some more of the same tire for 100 more.

but then again, what i said was mud terrain tire, a MT, a bogger is not a MT, it is a bogger, there is a difference

shit i wish i could find a set of boggers for under a grand! lol but im waiting till i pic up the other 3 to get them mounted on my rims so i dont have to do it twice. im pickin em up next week so ill get some pics up when there mounted and on the truck.

hmmm. dot min speed rating is around 70-75 mph iirc. pretty sure current boggers are still dot rated

i have heard 50 mph for certain tires, swamper told me they were rated to 83 or maybe it was 87 mph though when i originally bought them years ago. are they lower now?

i was told they had the lowest speed rating available, which is the same that ground hawgs and such share.

however i do not have a new bogger to check the speed rating on them, i know i checked the 31" boggers before and they were considered a "Mining Tire"

my apologies. Misunderstood it.

I wasn't saying anything against them, dont get me wrong. I just remember him saying that he was building the truck for mud, and not to go crawling.

BTW, OP, how the hell did you get a set of Free tires?? Then another set for 100 bucks??

the free set came from some dude that bought my atv he said he had the old set of his f-250 and wanted to get rid of em i said if plans on throwin em away ill take em he said ok and brought em to me. and the $100 set i found on craigslist about an hour from me.

lucky mf.......

I'm just gonna put in my 2 cents but for all the extensive work you are doing, it would have been Economically wiser to just take the ranger cab and fab it to the f-250 frame.

Also those frames are a bit stouter and can handle lateral stress that those spring perches are going to be putting on the ranger frame

EDIT: haha I just realized you wouldn't have to bump out the perches if you used the f-250 frame

So after alot of talk and consideration im thinking about selling the 351 and using that money to beef up the 302 a little and get the bellhousing and torque converter to put the 4spd granny on the 302 so i can keep the granny low and 208 t-case. Probably start happening this week ill update.

Ok im trying to find the cast number on the 302 to find out exactly what year it is and what it's out of because it was in the truck when i bought it and the guy didnt really know much about it. Does anyone know where to find the cast number on the newer 5.0's?

Block Casting # will be under the starter. Head casting #'s will be in between the pushrod holes on the deck side of the head. Looks like you have an explorer engine, which will be the best of any 302 produced from the factory (short of the the boss, obviously) The explorer engine is capable of 300hp with a simple cam and valve spring swap. Look into a dual pattern cam with more exhaust bias, Comp XE series, and Trickflow cams are good cams with good all around power, and dont go too big. The TF stg 1 is about perfect for a V8 RBV, stay away from the Motorsport cams, they are meant for heads that flow better on the exhaust side. Make sure you have a free flowing exhaust and intake, and youll have plenty of power to do anything you want, and far more power than that boat anchor you were going to put into it.
