My 93 fuel gauge was acting funny so I decided it was time for a sending unit. Replaced the unit and now its still not right. I started thinking it was the gauge but before I put the new one in we ran it full and empty and it seemed fine. Now I'm back to thinking it is the new sender but can't find any specs on what ohms it's supposed to be. I called the dealer and the parts guy said let me put you through to service the guy that picked up said he's not a mechanic he just writes tickets and he had no way of knowing. Its a 93 single cab 2.3. Thanks

22 ohms empty, 145 ohms Full.

Any chance it is not oriented in the tank properly? I had to bend the arm on a new sender (black plastic block float instead of the brass). I could feel it hitting funny when I installed it though. Kinda had to push the top to sit flat so it was pretty obvious something was hitting.

I put it back just like it was and it was the same . The tank was about half full when I changed it and it read just over half. The next day I was driving and saw it was down about a 1/4 inch lower on the gauge and I had only driven about 10 miles.I started to watch it and it would float up then down that quarter. It has stopped floating back and forth and has been sitting in the same place for about the last 40 miles. I went back to the parts place last night with my meter to check another new one aginst the old one i took out. The new one was 15 empty and 163 on full my old one was 38 empty and 198 full. I have not checked the one that I put in the tank havent had time to pull it. Thanks for the info. I'll let you know how it works out.
