93 ford ranger just up and quit

hi all i have a 93 ford ranger that just up and quit while driving home i had to have it towed i have changed the fuel filter fuel pressure valve and a few other parts it will just sit there and turn over all day long as soon as i spray starter fluid it will start for a sec any ides would be greatly appreciated

So you have what seems to be a fuel pressure problem, and have replaced everything except the part that supplies fuel, and you are confused.


Have you considered testing and/or replacing the fuel pump?

yes i tested the fuel pressure there is 38 pounds of pressure

Ok, good. That wasn't clear from the first post.

This is a long shot, but it's easy and free, try unplugging the MAF and see if she will idle unassisted.

It would helpful to know WHICH ENGINE you have.

Shot in the dark: Crankshaft sensor, unless yours is a 3.0. Reason being, the PCM has to know that the engine is turning in order to manage spark and fuel injector timing. Without that signal, you get no fuel out of the injectors. Same deal applies to the 3.0, except that rotation sensor resides in the distributor.

93 2.3 crank sensor had dual purpose, controls spark AND fuel injector timing.
93 3.0 still had a distributor.
93 4.0 had two versions, 49 state and California only.
