I bought a 93 ford explorer for the wife, it has 93,000 miles on it. Previous owner had head gaskets replace 20,000 miles and 3 years ago. Last owners paid 1,600 to have the head gaskets done and they are out again. Tore the engine down and took the heads in to have them check and cleaned. One head had to be plained .007 to clean it up the other one is cracked. Is there some one that makes them aftermarket, or am I better to go get another set from a junkyard engine and hope they are good.

I did to top end rebuild on my 99 4.0L OHV and I didn't find anything worth the cash as an aftermarket part. I saw some heads online for like $240 a pop "new". I assumed they were probably made out of Chinese pot metal. There's a bunch of guys online that sell rebuilt heads with very good warranties though. I'd be concerned about buying a possibly bad head from the junkyard.
