Found an explorer being parted out so im taking the rear end from it but while im there i might as well take the front and replace the Dana 28, if anyone has done the swap i would like to know what parts from the explorer i need to do the swap? propably the axle shaft correct? anything else? thnx guys

yea i read that but it dosnt really do a full explanation, Do i need the 35 axleshaft it dosnt say? what am i shorting my 28 or 35 axle shaft? what about transfer cases is the mounting the same? Ive never been under an explorer to be able to look around so i have no clue how they r set up and what they look like under there

Shortening your dana 28 drive shaft 1 to 1.5 inches and the shock mounts need modifide/changed on the dana 35. But other then that the dana 35 is basiclly bolt in from what I was told today (im going to be doing it one day mabey). Just grab everything from the front suspension and youll be fine. You might need to get manual locking hubs for it though. And while your getting parts for it put the dash from the explorer in your truck, it makes it look great. Theres a write up on it in the tech. library.

I already have manual hubs wil those swap over? And my dash is getting ripped out and a custom one is taking it's place I forgot the name of the company but it looks pretty raw. Thanks for the details that helped alot

What's this talk about a shock mount modification? Never heard of needing that....

The DRIVESHAFT mod yes.

But you should grab the front driveshaft too for when you eventually talk yourself into the Mazda trans/13-54 T-case swap.

The hubs will NOT swap over.

You need the entire steering linkage.

You DO NOT need the brake calipers but spares can be nice to have.
Ditto for the steering BOX and the arm on it, spares can be nice to have.
