Hey guys and girls. My little brother is having issues with his Ranger, so i thought i do a little recon for him. The starter on the 93 went bad, so they went and got a remanned one. my brother hooked it up backwards, tried to start the truck, and of course, fried that starter. They went and got another one, installed it, replaced the cylinoid (sp?), and now all the starter is doing is grinding like it is hitting the flywheel teeth. I know you can shim a SBC starter to correct this problem, but i wasn't too sure for a 4.0
Another bit of info is the motor IS NOT the original motor. It is a junkyard engine from another ranger. The motor has been in the truck for about 4 years now, and this is the first starter issue we have had with it. Is there any difference in a 94 4.0 and a 93 4.0? I didn't think there was, but i thought i would ask the experts. Anyone who can help, please do.
